Table Mountain is recognized globally for it unique shape and beauty. Have you been up the mountain yet? The Cable way on Table Mountain first opened as long as 70 years ago on the 4th of October 1929. The construction of the cable car was highly difficult as roads had not yet been built to the lower cable middle point so getting tool up the mountain was a lively task. Tons of heavy cable was pulled from the harbor a few kilometers away to the lowest of the mountain.

The new Rotair cableways that you see now going up and down the mountain came from Switzerland by ship. Each cable car can carry 65 habitancy and the floor revolves so that every person can get a view. The cable car itself can take the weight of an elephant so weight is never an issue. The floor of the cable car is in effect a large water tank for the dry summer months were water is transportable to the top of the mountain for visitors to use.
